William H. Creighton K8TUT Silent Key ATHENS - William "Bill" H. Creighton, Jr. of Athens passed away on April 30, 2017 at the age of 90 at Riverside Methodist Hospital, Columbus. Bill was born in Cincinnati, Ohio, to William H. and Edna (Motch) Creighton. He married Joy (Hale) Creighton on August 17, 1952 in Wilmington, Ohio. He earned his Bachelor's Degree from Wilmington College and his Master's Degree from the University of Cincinnati. A professor emeritus of Ohio University, he retired from the Russ College of Engineering and Technology. He served in the 3rd Army during the occupation of Germany after World War II. Bill was a member and served as elder for the First Presbyterian Church of Athens. He also was a volunteer for O'Bleness Memorial Hospital. He was a model train enthusiast and was involved in amateur radio for over 60 years. Bill was an avid wood worker and his family has many items made in his shop. In addition to his wife, he is survived by sons, William H. (Nancy) Creighton of Oak Park, Illinois, Richard H. (Becky) Creighton of Urbana, Ohio and James M. (Zhao Yudan) Creighton of Grosse Pointe Park, Michigan; five grandchildren, Carroll (Sarah) Creighton, Zachary (Kristen) Creighton, Scott Creighton, Christopher (Kelly McNear) Creighton and Jess Creighton; four great-grandchildren, Allyson, Elias, Simeon and Paisley; and his sister, Janet (Louis) Moormeier of Mason, Ohio. Besides his parents he was preceded in death by a brother, Robert Creighton. Graveside services by Rev. Robert Martin of the First Presbyterian Church of Athens will be held at the convenience of the family, in Sugar Grove Cemetery, Wilmington, Ohio.
