My SayingsOurs is not to take things said personally, but to ascertain their applicability. A billboard-sized sign of incompetence is when one plays politics. When one talks, they are repeating what they already know. If one listens, one learns. Being fully conscious is the willingness to be sensate hence aware of the ambiance that is really reality and not an exaggeration of what the TV says it is. The following is said not with anger, disappointment,
consternation, or sarcasm, but with fascination: … Slimness, slenderness, and healthfulness is not a natural talent or condition, it is derived from a learned discipline. Intellectualism is not only for the poignant thinker. In some form or another, all of us have the capability for deep thought and introspection. Objective thought is an entitlement and all of us have been endowed with it. Creativity is an ability that God has given to all of us, but few of us have chosen to use this capability. Separatism is the toxic affect of traditions, fear, narcissism, sexism, and self-centered values. Those among us who discriminate against those who are of a different heritage, blind, crippled, chair bound, female, transgendered, gay, or mentally challenged are enabling totalitarians to take control of everyone's life. The human condition is such that, in varying degrees, we need to intimately be with another human such that one can understand the other and can freely share, with confidence in each other, the much-needed touching moments as well as our life long endeavors. It must be understood that women are not second-class citizens who must submit themselves to men. Women are definitely more than just legs, breasts, and hips; they are supposed to be sentient human beings of legally stated equality. They are absolutely and provably, biologically and mentally capable of the same feelings, thoughts, ideas, and abilities, as are men. Marriage is from now on. The time invested is time we will never have again. Acceptance is in both directions and is null and voided by hidden agendas and looking towards another for fulfilling unfulfilled expectations. If someone in a relationship relinquishes who they are to hold on to another or the relationship itself, even for a short time, they are enabling and asking for disappointment, a loss of self esteem, and ultimately, failure of the relationship. When there is an attempt to make a relationship the center, (liken onto pleasing royalty) it requires appeasement. It then soon grows weary, boring, eventually old, and ultimately, it will end. But when a relationship is a means for aiding both person’s quests for living, then there is a natural tendency and desire for both willing actualized people to keep it fed and maintained as they would their own selves. E 1999 Sayings Of OthersHappiness is that state of consciousness which proceeds from the achievement of one's values. Wealth is the product of man's capacity to think. This freedom from absolute, arbitrary power is so necessary to, and closely joined with, a man's preservation, that he cannot part with it but by what forfeits his preservation and life together. To me the real racism lies in the condescending assumption that we must equate all cultures to assuage African-Americans, or any other minorities, instead of challenging them to compete with, and equal, the best in the culture where they live now. Anything free is worth what you pay for it. To the extent that a man is guided by his rational judgment, he acts in accordance with the requirements of his nature and, to that extent, succeeds in achieving a human form of survival and well-being; to the extent that he acts irrationally, he acts as his own destroyer. An individualist is a man who says: "I will not run anyone's life - nor let anyone run mine. I will not rule or be ruled. I will not be a master nor a slave. I will not sacrifice myself to anyone - nor sacrifice anyone to myself." Any excuse will serve a tyrant. People who pride themselves on their "complexity" and deride others for being "simplistic" should realize that the truth is often not very complicated. What gets complex is evading the truth. A "whim" is a desire experienced by a person who does not know and does not care to discover its cause. Inflation is not caused by the actions of private citizens, but by the government: by an artificial expansion of the money supply required to support deficit spending. No private embezzlers or bank robbers in history have ever plundered people's savings on a scale comparable to the plunder perpetrated by the fiscal policies of statist governments. You have no more right to consume happiness without producing it than to consume wealth without producing it. The law will never make men free; it is men who have got to make the law free. Control your destiny, or someone else will. There are two kinds of people: those who do the work and those who take the credit. Try to be in the first group; there was less competition there. ... so long as the people do not care to exercise their freedom, those who wish to tyrannize will do so; for tyrants are active and ardent, and will devote themselves in the name of any number of gods, religious and otherwise, to put shackles upon sleeping men. A public debt is a kind of anchor in the storm; but if the anchor be too heavy for the vessel, she will be sunk by that very weight which was intended for her preservation. An emotion as such tells you nothing about reality, beyond the fact that something makes you feel something. Justice does exist in the world, whether people choose to practice it or not. The men of ability are being avenged. The avenger is reality. Its weapon is slow, silent, invisible, and men perceive it only by its consequences - by the gutted ruins and the moans of agony it leaves in its wake. The name of the weapon is: inflation. Contrary to the ecologists, nature does not stand still and does not maintain the kind of "equilibrium" that guarantees the survival of any particular species - least of all the survival of her greatest and most fragile product: humans. Don't go around saying the world owes you a living. The world owes you nothing. It was here first. It is easier to be a "humanitarian" than to render your own country its proper due; it is easier to be a "patriot" than to make your community a better place to live in; it is easier to be a "civic leader" than to treat your own family with loving understanding; for the smaller the focus of attention, the harder the task. Individual rights are the means of subordinating society to moral law. The income tax has made more liars out of the American people than golf has. Even when you make a tax form out on the level, you don't know when it's through if you are a crook or a martyr. "I named my new dog Congress because of the way he does his business in the house." Intellectual freedom cannot exist without
political freedom; political freedom cannot exist without
economic freedom; a free mind and a free market are corollaries. ...if men are to be ruled, then the enemy is reason. Those who profess to favor freedom, and yet deprecate agitation, are men who want rain without thunder and lightning. They want the ocean without the roar of its many waters. Men are not against you; they are merely for themselves. "Of all tyrannies a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. It may be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies, The robber baron's cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated; but those who torment us for own good will torment us without end, for they do so with the approval of their own conscience." I am approached with the most opposite opinions and advice, and by men who are equally certain that they represent the divine will. I am sure that either the one or the other is mistaken in the belief, and perhaps in some respects, both. I hope it will not be irreverent of me to say that if it is probable that God would reveal his will to others on a point so connected with my duty, it might be supposed he would reveal it directly to me. God made the Idiot for practice, and then He made the School Board. Man has been called a rational being, but rationality is a matter of choice - and the alternative his nature offers him is: rational being or suicidal animal. Man has to be man - by choice; he has to hold his life as a value - by choice; he has to learn to sustain it - by choice; he has to discover the values it requires and practice his virtues - by choice. To declare that "everybody is white" or "everybody is black" or "everybody is neither white nor black, but gray," is not a moral judgment, but an escape from the responsibility of moral judgment. "An unarmed man can only flee from evil, and evil is not overcome by fleeing from it." Competition is a by-product of productive work, not its goal. A creative man is motivated by the desire to achieve, not by the desire to beat others. I cannot give you the formula for success but I can give you the formula for failure -- which is: Try to please everybody. Civilization is the process of setting man free from men. It is part of the American character to consider nothing as desperate. No man's life, liberty, or property are safe while the legislature is in session. Those who expect to reap the blessings of freedom,
must, like men and women, undergo the fatigue of supporting it.
